One of Facebook's recent new features is it's translations. Being South African, I wanted to change my interface to use British english, rather than American english. They carefully crept into the stable, so as not to wake the baby, and as they entered the stable each one gasped a little. "Here he is, this child will save us!" whispered one of the herdboys at the back of the group to another. A feeling of awe and amazement came over them, and they quietly but excitedly went over to the proud father and shook his hand, and then gave the young mother a hug. Well, it's long overdue, but for those who don't know, Hannah is pregnant. At this stage she's about 7 weeks along, and the baby is due on the 10th of August. It's too early to tell whether or not it's a boy or a girl, but we're going to wait until junior is born to find out. Call me old-fashioned, I don't care!

To be honest, it's a little unexpected, but Hannah and I are thoroughly excited. Hannah has been going on about babies since before we got married, so now she's as happy as a pig in the mud.

One of my pet peeves is those OpenOffice.org Impress or Microsoft PowerPoint presentations that folks do in churches. I've seen too many half-hearted efforts in the 28 years I've been in church. Read more about Effective Church Presentations...

Last Monday I posted a blog entry about how former president Thabo Mbeki had resigned from the presidency, and Izak commented and said I was over reacting with my assumptions and statements. To be honest, he's probably right. I know I have a tendency to over react at times, especially when it concerns the safety of those I love, like my wife.

So here's a second perspective, a week later.

This afternoon the South African president, Thabo Mbeki, resigned due to pressure from his political party, the ANC. This leaves our country in a large deal of uncertainty. The main person behind this is Jacob Zuma, a man known to be a people-pleaser, and previously accused of large-scale fraud. Many South Africans are scared of a country ruled by Mr Zuma, as they fear that South Africa could easily turn into another Zimbabwe. Read more about Please Pray For South Africa...
