31 Days of Parenting Littles: Second

Josiah is our second child- second son as well. When he was born we felt quite comfortable that we knew what we were doing. And we did when it came to the little things. It didn't take long for us to discover though that just because he was our second son didn't mean he would be anything like our first! People say that every child is different, and I was in complete agreement with that when I was pregnant with Josiah. I didn't expect him to be the same as Zak. You can't really fully understand HOW different they can be until the second one arrives though!

Zak and Josiah are about as different as you can get when it comes to personality. Zak didn't sleep through until he was 3 years old. Josiah was sleeping through by the time he was 5 weeks old. Josiah was content to lie around and not be held all day, and he only fed every 3-4 hours. Zak was constantly attatched to the breast for the first few weeks and nursed every 3-4 hours until he was over 2 years old (often even more frequently, especially at night). Josiah is easily comforted by Raoul and actually often prefers him. Zak wouldn't be comforted by anyone but me. Mama's boy vs. Daddy's boy- outgoing drama king vs. introverted engineer.

I expected them to be be different, but I didn't realise they'd be so COMPLETELY different!
