31 Days of Parenting Littles: Care
Generally speaking, it's the Mommy's job to do most of the day-to-day care for the family- the housework, the endless nappy changes, the cooking, etc. And when Mommy is sick, or has a new baby, sometimes there's not anyone who can take care of her, especially if her mother can't make it out!
That's kind of what ended up happening when Josiah was born. My post-partum recovery was pretty awful. Raoul was sick (bronchitis and asthma- a husband who can't breathe is not a husband who can do the housework!), Zak and I ended up getting a stomach bug, I got secondary infections in my incision, and the proposed meal roster kind of fell apart and we ended up only getting about a week (combined) of sporadic meals brought to us. It was just a really, really rough time, and I found myself taking on that role of "carer" when I really needed to be taken care OF.
Well, thankfully this time around has been different, and we are so incredibly thankful (especially me, but Raoul as well). We have gotten THREE WEEKS of meals given to us (how incredible is that?!), which has not only saved us a lot of time and effort, but also helped us out financially in a big way- 3 weeks of meals for a family of 4 is a significant amount of money. We've also been blessed with better health this time around and Raoul has done an amazing job of taking care of me and the kids. Praise God! (And pray for me as Raoul goes back to work on Monday!)
